Google Nexus 5 may be launched on October 31

A lot of questions have been raised about Google’s next smartphone, the Nexus 5, and about when the company plans to officially unveil the new device. While the last few days has seen rumours and speculation about the new handset dipping, a new report from Canadian tech site MobileSyrup has revealed what could be an official release date. And guess what, it might be this month!

According to the source, the Nexus 5 may be officially seen on Google Play in the US on October 31. Neighboring country Canada may see the device coming its way on November 8. If validated, this report could mean that we will be seeing the Nexus 5 as soon as next week. The source, however, did not specify where this information came from, so it is tough to validate or confirm this claim.

The device was recently seen in an eBay listing, with a price tag of $600 and $650 price tag for the 16GB and the 32GB models respectively. The listing currently says that two units of the device have found their way to consumers and that the device is currently sold out. What is interesting is that the device image we see in the listing is the same as the one we saw a while back when the handset briefly made an appearance on the Google Play store. The price difference between the two listings is significant, though, as the earlier report stated that the 16GB Nexus 5 model would cost $349, while the 32GB variant would set users back $399. Google and the device’s manufacturers LG are both tight lipped about this for now, so there is no way to confirm either of these listings.

A host of leaks have helped to paint a pretty clear picture of what we can expect from the Nexus 5. It is estimated that the device will come with a 5-inch display sporting a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and may be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The handset is also pegged to come with a 13-megapixel primary camera as well as a 2-megapixel front shooter. One of the most anticipated features of the new device is the pre-installed Android 4.4 KitKat OS. While the new device is the focus of everyone’s attention, there have also been reports claiming that Google is planning an LG Nexus 4 with LTE capabilities.
