Guess we are not done with the debate of whether or not Samsung Galaxy S5 will sport a metal body or not. Just yesterday we had reported, that sources in Korea are hinting that it is unlikely for the next iteration of Samsung Galaxy to come with a metal body.

Now IBTimes is quoting, a news report by ETNews in stating that the Korean smartphone maker Samsung’s R&D department is working on a new material for the metal body of its upcoming smartphone, which could include the Galaxy S5.

Unfortunately, the new “diamond metal surface treatment technology” will not embed diamonds into the device to make the smartphone sparkly, as using real diamonds can be costly. But it seemed the company can make a way around this. ETNews suggested that Samsung could create synthetic diamond material by exposing carbon to high temperatures and pressures.

Furthermore, the report also suggests that the “diamond-like” material infused in the coating will drastically decrease the amount of scratches on the device. This technology is being adopted by Samsung to take on the iPhone 6 which is rumoured to come with a sapphire technology.

So far we have already heard that the Samsung Galaxy S5 might have a 2K display and sport an Iris scanner.

In addition, the AnTuTu Benchmarks of the device touted as Samsung Galaxy S5 has been posted online. This information suggests that Samsung Galaxy S5 will pack in 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. However, this report indicates that this phone will come with the 1080p display and not 2K display.

From the earlier leaks it has been indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is scheduled for unveiling at Mobile World Congress (MWC) technology expo in February next year and is also rumoured to pack a 64-bit processor and a 16MP isocell camera under the hood, apart from running the latest version of Android OS.

Samsung has a lot riding on its new flagship and there are plenty of contradictory reports doing the rounds. We hope that the things will settle in by January 2014 and we will have more concrete information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 by then. Till then, we keep reading every little information with a pinch of salt. [via ETNews and Trusted Reviews]
